'Pink Panther'

Caladium 'Pink Panther' is a caladium with a lot of textural detail. It isn’t subtle at all. It’s bold as can be, grabbing people’s attention, and rightly so. The colour palette is a camouflage of pinks, greens and whites, with deep fuchsia veining. This is another strap leaved caladium that features elongated and narrow leaves with ruffled edging. Leaves can also appear translucent in certain lights. These plants are versatile and have a good tolerance for brighter environments. But too much direct sun can bleach colours

The Caladium 'Pink Panther’ belongs to the Araceae family. The species has roots to the tropical rainforests of South America. They thrive in warm and humid environments 

Seasonal Dormancy

It’s important to keep in mind that caladiums go into dormancy in colder climates. Its leaves will fade and die back. This is a completely natural part of its cycle-you haven’t killed the plant! Reduce watering significantly. When the foliage dries, stop watering. Store the tuber in a cool, dark, dry place and allow the plant to rest. Resume watering in the spring and wait for new growth to emerge

    • Lighting: Thrives in full / partial shade / bright indirect light   

    • Watering: Water once top inch of soil is dry-prefers to be consistently moist (try to bottom water whenever possible to avoid those ghats!)       

    • Soil: Well-draining soil (I use a cacti / a desert mix for all my plants). They despise sitting in soggy soil, add perlite or vermiculite for aeration        

    • Environment: Native to the tropics, they require high humidity and warmth (ideally above 21°C)       

    • Toxicity: Caladiums are toxic when digested, keep away from pets and small children

    • Top Tip: Caladiums love humidity. Mist your plant 2 to 3 times per week. Group plants close together to create a natural humid microclimate
