Caladium ‘Fannie Munson’ is a shade loving tropical plant. This plant is perfect for your rooms that don’t capture much sun. The shadier the environment, the more colourful it’ll be! Not something we usually hear about plants. Fannie Munson is known for its striking flamingo-pink pigmentation, deep fuchsia veining and accents of green margins. Leaves have a paper-like texture and can even appear translucent in the sunlight

The Caladium 'Fanny Munson’ belongs to the Araceae family. It’s an interspecific hybrid cultivated from the Caladium × hortulanum complex. Ancestral roots trace back to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America

Seasonal Dormancy

It’s important to keep in mind that caladiums go into dormancy in colder climates. Its leaves will fade and die back. This is a completely natural part of its cycle-you haven’t killed the plant! Reduce watering significantly. When the foliage dries, stop watering. Store the tuber in a cool, dark, dry place and allow the plant to rest. Resume watering in the spring and wait for new growth to emerge

    • Lighting: Thrives in full / partial shade 

    • Watering: Water once top inch of soil is dry-prefers to be consistently moist (try to bottom water whenever possible to avoid those ghats!)   

    • Soil: Well-draining soil (I use a cacti / a desert mix for all my plants). They despise sitting in soggy soil, add perlite or vermiculite for aeration    

    • Environment: Native to the tropics, they require high humidity and warmth (ideally above 21°C)   

    • Toxicity: Caladiums are toxic when digested, keep away from pets and small children

    • Top tip: Immature leaves are often predominantly green / pale. They typically need time to mature and develop into their pink colourway

      Caladiums love humidity. Mist your plant 2 to 3 times per week. Group plants close together to create a natural humid microclimate
