Caladium ‘Cherry Tart’ is one of the most vibrant varieties. A cross-pollination of the ‘Florida Sweetheart’. This dwarf tropical perennial packs a punch with its dense foliage and striking hot pink. Leaves have a gloss-like crisp texture. It features narrow-arrow headed leaves, that show off crinkled green edging. A versatile plant that can handle bright / shaded areas

The Caladium 'Cherry Tart' belongs to the Araceae family. They originate from the tropical rainforests of Central America, most concentrated in Brazil and the surrounding areas. They thrive in warm and humid environments

Seasonal Dormancy

It’s important to keep in mind that caladiums go into dormancy in colder climates. Its leaves will fade and die back. This is a completely natural part of its cycle-you haven’t killed the plant! Reduce watering significantly. When the foliage dries, stop watering. Store the tuber in a cool, dark, dry place and allow the plant to rest. Resume watering in the spring and wait for new growth to emerge

    • Lighting: A very versatile caladium. Can thrive in full / partial sun, bright / indirect sunlight, full / partial shade

    • Watering: Water once top inch of soil is dry-prefers to be consistently moist (try to bottom water whenever possible to avoid those ghats!)   

    • Soil: Well-draining soil (I use a cacti / a desert mix for all my plants). They despise sitting in soggy soil, add perlite or vermiculite for aeration    

    • Environment: Native to the tropics, they require high humidity and warmth (ideally above 21°C)   

    • Toxicity: Caladiums are toxic when digested, keep away from pets and children

    • Top Tip: Caladiums love humidity. Mist your plant 2 to 3 times per week. Group plants close together to create a natural humid microclimate
